Anna Akhmatova lived in a house on the Fontanka River, the former Sheremet'ev Palace, in St. Petersburg for almost 30 years. This house became part of her own history, the history of St. Petersburg and her country. There she survived the arrests of her husband and son and the beginning of World War II. There she wrote her famous poems "Requiem" and "Poem Without a Hero". This book tells the story of the people living in this place, whose lives were closely connected to Akhmatova's life. Profusely illustrated.
