In addition, a new set of prints commissioned from 13 international artists especially for this volume continues the tradition of "Story of the Eye" as an illustrated text. Also included are a detailed new publishing history that discusses the various appearances of the tale since 1928 and a lengthy "excavation: project comparing key passages from four known versions of Bataille's tale, including a now-rare 1953 translation."
