Volume, measuring approximately 6" x 8.75", is bound in black cloth, with stamped gilt lettering to spine. Binding is firm.  Top edge of text block is tinted red. Book is in near fine condition, with black stamp on front flyleaf.  Interior is otherwise clean and bright. Dust jacket is also in near fine condition. Jacket is preserved in mylar condition.
A 1967 novel by Nobel prize-winning Russian writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn. It describes the meeting of various cancer patients in an Uzbek hospital in the Soviet Union of the mid-1950s. The novel is considered partly autobiographical because the author himself was treated for a tumor in Tashkent in the 1950s and can be recognized in one of the main characters.
