Volume, measuring approximately 5.75" x 9", is bound in brown cloth, with stamped black lettering to spine and front cover. Book shows moderate external wear, with traces of removed labels to bottom of spine and upper inside corner of front cover. Top edge of text block is tinted black. Binding is sound. Interior is clean and bright, with no library markings or attachments.
Inscription on front flyleaf reads "Seiner lieben Hanna (illegible last name) / mit freundlichem Dank für (illegible word) / Mitarbeit / Jena 5./10./36 K. H."
Key work on monasticism by German scholar and academic Karl Heussi (1877-1961), who was professor of church history at the University of Jena from 1924 to 1953.
