Antique volume, measuring approximately 8.25" x 11", is bound in red cloth, with stamped gilt lettering to spine and front cover. Color pastedown appears on front cover. Book shows shelfwear, with faded spine. Binding is sound. Pages are clean and without markings. Richly illustrated, with 307 textual illustrations and 31 plates, with a number of these in color.
Seminal work on the representational history of antisemitism by Eduard Fuchs (1870-1940), a German scholar, historian, Marxist writer and art collector. His work, analyzed among others by Walter Benjamin, consisted of valorizing the image (or the mass object) in terms of historical context and development. His writing is today reevaluated within Cultural Studies.
