This progam was intended as a guide to the new production of this Strauss opera during the Münchner Opernfestspiele of 1981 in the Bayerische Staatsoper Nationaltheater München under the direction of Wolfgang Sawallisch. A small record, containing recordings of the original staging of 1928, is laid into pocket at rear of volume.
