Architectural study of an early 17th-century monastery built to house a community of Dominican nuns, whose religious life continues to this day. The complex is at the heart of the municipality of Lerma in the Spanish province of Burgos and its construction was undertaken by Francisco Gómez de Sandoval y Rojas (1553-1625), the Margrave of Denia and Duke (duque) of Lerma, as part of the expansion of the medieval town of Lerma into a representative ducal seat. Construction was completed in 1613–1617; the church and convent building are considered important representatives of the late Herrera style.
