This work on the cantatas of the 18th-century German composer, first published in 1947, is by German musicologist and Bach scholar Werner Neumann (1905 - 1991), who was the principal editor of the "Neue Bach-Ausgabe," the second edition of the complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach.
