This is a new edition of a work by theologian, philosopher and organist Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965) that was originally published in French under the title "J. S. Bach: le musicien-poete" in 1905, then in rewritten by Schweitzer for the German edition of 1908, when in appeared simply as "J. S. Bach." This book was translated into English by the celebrated English music critic and musicologist Ernest Newman three years later. Charles-Marie Widor (1844-1937) was a French organist, composer and teacher.
