Volume, measuring approximately 5.5" x 8.5", is bound in gray cloth spine and illustrated paper-covered boards, with stamped black and white lettering to spine. Book displays moderate wear, with minor smudging at top of rear cover. Binding is sound. Pages are clean and without markings. This work is illustrated with vignettes and b&w photographic plates.
Work devoted to the life of Ustym Yakymovych Karmaliuk (1787-1835), a Ukrainian outlaw who fought against the Russian administration and became a folk hero to the commoners of Ukraine. He is often referred to as the "Ukrainian Robin Hood" and "the last haydamak".
