"The first volume in a trilogy about three women who fomented and influenced 20th-century thought in various fields. They were nonconformists, and due to their independent thinking they encountered ostracism and lack of understanding. Analyzes Arendt's biography and writings. Pp. 86-119 comment on her book about Rahel Varnhagen and the latter's problems as a Jewish woman assimilated in German culture. Pp. 171-249 deal with "The Origins of Totalitarianism" and its analysis of antisemitism, as well as with "Eichmann in Jerusalem" - its impact, the debates it aroused, and the attacks on Arendt. Argues that people who attacked her for banalization of Eichmann's crimes, or for her opinion on the Judenräte, did not understand her writings." (From the Bibliography of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism)
