Antique volume, measuring approximately 6.5" x 10", has been rebound in quarter red cloth and red marbled paper-covered boards, with gilt-lettered leather spine label. Book shows moderate external wear, with light soiling to spine cover. Binding is sound. Volume has marbled endpapers. Lightly age-toned pages are clean and without markings. Original wrappers are bound in.
Doctoral thesis presented at the Universite de Paris, March 15 1919. This work deals with matters of religion as addressed in the "Cahiers de doléances" (or simply "cahiers" as they were often known), the lists of grievances drawn up by each of the three Estates in France, between March and April 1789, the year in which the French Revolution began. Includes extensive bibliography (pages 502-521).
