Heinrich Harrer (6 July 1912 – 7 January 2006) was an Austrian mountaineer, sportsman, geographer, and author. This book chronicles his experiences in Tibet between 1944 and 1951, where Harrer became a tutor and friend of the 14th Dalai Lama.
