"It is generally accepted, both on external grounds and on comparing its language, style and technique with his other plays, that the "Rhesus" is not the work of Euripides, but a later work erroneously attributed to him. Dr. Ritchie here examines these theories and proves beyond doubt that the general opinion is wrong. He shows that the reasons are mistaken and offers strong evidence that the play is in fact the earliest extant work of Euripides -- one of the few plays we possess from the middle of the fifth century B.C."
