"Isaac Babel is coming to be recognized as one of the truly great short-story writers of this century. "The Collected Stories" brings together for the first time the body of the work of this Russian master. It includes "Red Cavalry," "Tales of Odessa," and all the hitherto untranslated and uncollected stories. Walter Morison, who edited this volume, has restored all the censored passages omitted in earlier versions."
