Volume, measuring approximately 6.75" x 10", is bound in dark blue cloth, with stamped gilt lettering to spine. Book displays light shelfwear. Small paper label is affixed to spine. Binding is cracked at title page, with hinges showing reinforcement. Traces of old bookplate are visible on front pastedown. "Paleontological Laboratory, Cornell Univ." is written on front pastedown. Front endpaper displays other library markings, attachment has been removed from rear pastedown and a number appears written in upper outside corner of title page. Interior is otherwise clean and bright. Numerous illustrations and plates, including three intact fold-out plates.
W. J. Arkell (1904-1958) was a British geologist and palaeontologist, regarded as the leading authority on the Jurassic Period during the middle part of the 20th century.
