"Although it was never their goal to assemble an art-historical survey of Picasso's work on paper, the collection does reflect his use of various media -- pen, gouache, charcoal, collage, silverpoint lithography, etching, and linocut -- and extends across the numerous periods of his long career. Many of his most extraordinary achievements as a graphic artist are included. Thus this exhibition provides a fitting tribute to Picasso, a tribute which, due to the generosity of the Morton G. Neumann Family Collection, will place 100 works by the master on view on 25 October 1981, 100 years from the day he was born."
