"This study presents the psychology and psychiatry of the young Kant, which came into being within the framework of his critical involvement with the Swedish scholar, mystic and spiritist Emanuel von Swedenborg. This involvement is the origin of Kant's critique of madness, in which he analyzes three aspects of schizophrenia: projection, the-splitting-of-the-I ("Ich-Spaltung"), paranoia. The author shows how Kant's early critique of madness reappears in his later critique of reason, and how, through the application of psychology to logic, what would later be called Kant's "critical turn" came about."
