Large-format volume, measuring approximately 8.25" x 11", is bound in oatmeal cloth, with stamped dark brown lettering to spine and front cover. Title appears stamped in black on front cover. Book displays moderate shelfwear, with sunning to spine and edges of covers. Binding is firm. Endpapers, half title page and verso of final plate show (significant) foxing. Scattered light foxing can be seen in pages following or preceding the above. Introductory text and plates are largely devoid of foxing and have no markings. Leaf with relevant titles in publisher's catalogue is laid in. 
Though German sculptor, writer and graphic artist Ernst Barlach (1870-1938) is particularly known for its wooden sculptures and bronzes, he also left behind a diverse range of prints, drawings and literature. His work has been characterized as being influenced by both realism and expressionism.
